Martha Jean Whipps

Marty Whipps, age 66, passed away very peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 surrounded by family at her residence in Licking County. Born in Wisconsin, she moved to Washington Court House, Ohio as a young child where her family had a busy dairy farm. Following her graduation from Miami Trace High School, she attended cosmetology school and the Ohio State University. After a few years working as a cosmetologist, she began working in the family rental and property management business handling rental properties for students in the Ohio State campus area. She was an active member of her Church and also served as the President of her Woman's Group. Marty loved outside activities year round and enjoyed all the seasons had to offer. She greatly enjoyed visiting special places in Ohio such as Old Man's Cave, Dawes Arboretum and the Serpent Mound and traveling extensively throughout the United States as well as to Canada, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain, Greece, Costa Rica, and throughout the Caribbean. She was an avid gardener with a love for nature and landscaping as well as an accomplished scuba diver. She also loved golf at High Lands Golf Club in Pataskala. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and June Pero. Marty is survived by her husband, Edward F. Whipps; son, W. Robert Talbott; step children, Edward Scott Whipps, Rusk (Melissa) Huot Whipps, Sylvia Whipps Stevens, and Rudyard Christian Whipps; siblings, Theresa Ann (Lee) Williams, Elizabeth Jane Del Tedesco, Frances Marie Burns, John Michael (Jannai) Pero, Susan Eileen (Pat) Blom, Deloris Lynn (Brian) Jimenez, and Kathleen Mary (Paul) Hedges. A memorial service for Marty will be held at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 where family will receive friends afterwards from 3p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road SE, Newark, Ohio who provided wonderful care of Marty while under their care.
