Mary Elizabeth Beck

Mary was born in Logansport, Indiana, on November 23, 1918 to the late Thomas J. and Helen (Boyer) Flanegin. She grew up in Logansport and graduated from Logansport High School, class of ’36. After high school she attended Hillsdale College in Michigan where she received her B.A. degree. She taught for 15 years in Indiana at the elementary level and worked as a public librarian. In 1941, Mary married the love of her life, the late Mr. Frank P. Beck, and they celebrated over 42 years together before his passing in 1983.

For many years, Mary was an active member with the American Association of University Women and the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport, Indiana. She enjoyed gardening, music, and her dogs.

Mary is also preceded in death by her sister Irene Lanning.

Her survivors include her sons, Paul A. (Tere) of Columbus, OH and Tom (Sedefka) Beck of Elmhurst, IL.; grandchildren, Daniel (Liz) Beck of Columbus, David (Alissa) of CO., John, George, and Vanessa Beck of IL.; great grandchildren, Aidan, Brendan, Colby, and Addison; nieces, Mary K. Kenniston and Nancy Hoffman, both of Logansport IN. Family will have services and interment in Logansport, Indiana, at a later date.
