

Mary S. Koch went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 4, 2012. She was born November 18, 1917, in Hocking County, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Roxy (Rhoads) Schaal. Graduate of Logan High School, Logan, Ohio, Class of 1935 and Buckeye State Business College, Columbus, Ohio. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Circleville), First Christian Church (Springfield) and former member of Hedges Chapel Church (Ashville).
Mary helped manage a dairy farm for 34 years which at one time was the largest and highest producing herd in Pickaway County while a member of District 5 Holstein Club, Ohio Holstein Association and National Holstein Association and served as a 4-H advisor for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Marion Schaal and Ernest L. Schaal; and one sister, Ruth (Schaal) Jones. Also preceded in death by three husbands – John F. Schneider, Herman L. Hines and Theodore Koch. She is survived by son J. Roger Schneider (Jane) of Circleville; daughter, Janet (Schneider) Whetstone (Terry) of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, John (Terry) Schneider, Mary Jan Freeh, Chris (Carrie) Schneider, Lisa (Dan) Bealert and Steve (Beth) Whetstone; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandsons; and many nephews and nieces. A special thank you to Dee Krysty and the ladies of The Caring Touch for the loving care of our mother for the past 18 months.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 pm at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Circleville. Funeral service will be held Friday November 9, 2012 at 11 am with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville.
