

Mary Lou "Grandma Candy" Miller, age 84, of Grove City, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was born November 10, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Mary Ann (Rutherford) DeLong. She was a 1950 graduate of Central High School and a former waitress at Allen's Dairy Bar where she met her husband, Roy. They were happily married for nearly 34 years before he passed in 1984. She was retired from National City Bank Wholesale Lockbox. She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, Grove City Elks #37, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 144, V.F.W. Post 495 and was active with the racing wives at the Columbus Motor Speedway. She was an avid bowler and worked and served as a youth bowling coach at 3-C Lanes. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, and dancing. She took pride in her flower boxes that she planted every year. She was an excellent country style breakfast cook and loved serving her Saturday morning unexpected guests. She never met a stranger and loved attending social activities. She was known to always have candy around her house or in a big Rubbermaid tub with her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Miller; son, James R. Miller; grandson, David Whaley; sisters, Barbara Casey, Irene Sharpton, and Betty Neimeister. Mary Lou is survived by her children, Shirley (Gary) Whaley, Christina (Gerald) Felice, and Carl Miller; daughter in law, Mona Miller; grandchildren, Gina (Anthony) Gest, Anthony Miller, Kyle and Christopher Felice; granddaughter in law, Michelle Whaley-Belcher; great grandchildren, Dillon Whaley and Alyssa Gest; and many other relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Leon, West Virginia at Pine Grove Church with additional visitation one hour prior to the service.
