

Mary Alice Smith, age 94, of Columbus, died peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was born August 20, 1921 in Galena, Kansas to the late Frank and Laura Moorman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William B. Smith, 2 brothers and a sister. Mary Alice, a former employee of Federal Glass, was a longtime member of Walnut Heights Baptist Church. She was blessed with many talents. She was a gifted seamstress, a wonderful cook and candy maker, and a green thumb gardener; but her favorite pastime was fishing. Mary and her husband were avid campers, and traveled extensively, making friends wherever they went. She was beloved by and will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, and a host of longtime friends. She will be remembered for her kind, sweet, fun loving nature. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus. Her funeral will be held there at 10am Thursday, April 7, 2016. Entombment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. Per Mary's request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Walnut Heights Baptist Church, 1660 Lattimer Drive, Columbus, OH 43227.
