

Mary Ann (Boland) Steinbugl of Reynoldsburg died on March 8, 2025. She was born to parents James and Isabelle Boland on February 14, 1936. She graduated from the Commercial Department of the then Altoona Catholic High School. She worked as an executive secretary for the Mobil Oil Corporation in Altoona, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. Mary Ann was a soloist with the Altoona Choral Society and the local symphony. She became a church cantor at age 14 and continued doing so until retiring from singing in 2013. She married Raymond Steinbugl in 1965, and they moved to Ohio in 1966. Mary Ann then became a music director in the Columbus diocese and served for over 25 years at St. Pius X Church in Reynoldsburg and St. Matthew the Apostle in Gahanna until retiring in 2000. She also directed the women’s group “The Entertainers” based in Gahanna for 10 years. Mary Ann enjoyed singing, dancing, and bowling. She was an avid football fan especially Notre Dame and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, sisters Lois O’Friel, Sister Catherine Boland, C.S.A., and brother William. She is survived by daughter Kelley (Shan) Raver of Florida, son James (Vanessa) Steinbugl of Pataskala, grandchildren Troy and Audra Steinbugl as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and family at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E Livingston Avenue, Columbus on Sunday, March 16th, 2025 from 2 pm to 5 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Church on 1051 Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg on March 17th at 10:30 am and Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 11539 National Rd SW. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Tunnel to Towers for Homeless Veterans. Anyone that has sung with Mary Ann in the past is invited to sing at the funeral mass.
