

Maxine Gilmore Brown, age 86, of Gahanna, OH, passed away after a short illness on Friday, October 4, 2013. She was born to the late Helen (Stewart) and Chester Gilmore on January 12, 1927 in Berlin Cross Roads, OH. Maxine was raised in Columbus by Helen and Taft Martin. She was a graduate of East High School and attended Spellman College. Maxine was heavily involved in supporting her local community and volunteering for many organizations and charities. She was a member of the Columbus Chapter of Epicurean, St. Philip’s Lutheran Church and she retired from the City of Columbus. Maxine was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Yvonne Brown; mother and father, Helen & Taft Martin; father, Chester Gilmore. She is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Brown-Jackson; former husband, Lt. Col. Harold H. Brown; cousin, Joyce Stroud; great friend, Charlene Diggs; Beloved pet, Tim; Beloved Castle Pine Neighbors; a host of cousins and extended family. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202. Rev. Deacon Jennie Crockett officiating.
