

Mayme Elizabeth Wenger, 99, of Columbus, passed away on March 12, 2026. She was born in Camp Creek Township in Pike County on April 14, 1926 to the late William Taylor and Katherine (Brown) Gullett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, August L. Wenger; her brothers: Hershal, Herman, Frank, Earl, Everett, Milburn, and James; her sister, Evalena Langley; and her son-in-law Robert M. Stutz.
Mayme survived the difficult years of the depression and married Gus, a sailor who had just returned from WWII. They had two children. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved gardening, crafting, camping, and her grandchildren. Also, she worked part-time for Lazarus.
Mayme passed away leaving behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory and legacy. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Stutz; son, Wesley A. (Susan) Wenger; grandchildren Robert M. (Britney) Stutz, Theodore (Beth) Stutz, Elizabeth (Greg) Berman, Brian A. (Sandra) Wenger, Caroline (David) Large; great grandchildren Austin, Coleman, Finn, Sadie, McCartney, Miller, Emory, Thatcher, Colton, and Andi, who brought her great joy.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral celebrating Mayme’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Schoedinger Northwest. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the start of the service. A private graveside service will be held on Monday at Green Lawn Cemetery.
