Meridith Lee Thompson passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at the age of 46. Meridith was born and raised in Columbus, the daughter of Marianne (Gremillion) Thompson and the late Raymond Edgar Thompson.
Meridith graduated from Upper Arlington High School and earned a bachelor's degree in English from Ohio University. After college, she interned at WHYY in Philadelphia and then worked as a Capitol correspondent for Pennsylvania Public Radio. She went on to earn a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in Library Sciences. As an academic librarian in the University of Wisconsin system, Meridith published several articles, including a book review of Women in the Age of Shakespeare.
Meridith was a feisty, giving, free spirit with an infectious personality. She had a creative, curious mind and was uproariously funny. Meridith would make everyone she met smile and laugh, and was particularly known for her silly dancing. She enjoyed reading, thrift shopping (amassing a huge wardrobe), talking to her friends, sewing, and beadwork. She especially loved her cats and wanted to save all the cats that she could.
Meridith will be deeply missed by her immediate and extended family, including her loving husband, Michael McMann; mother, Marianne Thompson; mother-in-law, Carol McMann; caring family friend, Marie Burleson; and other family members and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Richard G. McMann Endowed Scholarship in the Eastern Campus area at Ohio University (https://bit.ly/3tYEaPD) or the Humane Society of your choice.
