Merle Wayne Mallett passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose steady presence, quiet strength, and unmistakable soft-spoken sense of humor left a lasting mark on everyone he met. He was a loyal husband to his wife and best friend to his beloved beagle, Peanut. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Merle served his country during the Korean Conflict with honor and humility.
Merle lived a life grounded in resilience, curiosity, and cared for others. He was a storyteller at heart—sharing moments from his life with a wit and warmth that brought people together. Whether recalling his time in the Navy, adventures from his youth, or everyday observations, he had a way of making even the simplest stories memorable. He was steady, gentle, and lived his life with quiet bravery, without need for recognition.
Above all, Merle cherished his family. He was a rock to those closest to him, offering quiet support, thoughtful guidance, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the laughter he shared, and the values he carried so consistently.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Doris, Daughter Beth (grandson Grayson), Daughter Susan (husband Bob, granddaughter Audrie, grandson Collin), and son John (Lauren).
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM–12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 25, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon at Schoedinger Northwest.
Services will conclude with Military Honors at the funeral home.
