With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Glen Beebe, who bravely departed this world on March 27th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sadly, Michael’s departure follows closely after that of his dear mother, Carol. Amidst our sorrow, there is solace in knowing they are together once more.
He is survived by his husband of 26 years, John Eric Sanford, Father, Glen Beebe, Sisters, Melissa Friebis (Jon Sprau), Mary James (Brad James), Martha Caspari (Tom Caspari) cherished nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family members, all of whom were profoundly touched by his love, courage, and resilience. Those who passed before him, his loving Mother, Grandparents, and beloved Jack Russell are now joyfully reunited with Michael in Heaven.
Born on February 7th, 1960, Michael was a force of nature from the very beginning. His tenacity and indomitable will were apparent throughout his life, but especially notable throughout his battle with cancer. Although his journey was unfathomable at times, he remained a beacon of light, and his infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him and those who cared for him at the James Cancer Center.
Michael was known for his quick-witted sense of humor and his passion for art and gardening. His love for nurturing plants and flowers were on display constantly at his home, enriching the lives of those who were fortunate enough to enjoy his creations. Michael loved hosting garden parties in the backyard oasis that he and John Eric created. Their periwinkle shade garden was featured in the 2004 Victorian Village Tour of Homes. Family and friends spent many wonderful evenings under the twinkling lights of the gazebo, surrounded by stunning flowers, a cherubic fountain, and the koi pond that Michael took such great pride in.
A graduate of Columbus College of Art and Design, Michael excelled at his pursued career in Interior Design. He was recognized as one of the top designers for the 1987 Decorators Showhouse at The Jones Mansion. He also spent several years managing The Conlin Art Gallery, and loved his work at The Wooden Bird, The ArtWorks, and Walden Books.
We will miss his boundless love for his husband, family, friends and his two beautiful Jack Russell’s. Though we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Michael is now at peace, free from pain and suffering. His legacy of courage, strength, and love will forever remain in our hearts, inspiring us to live each day to the fullest with the same feisty spirit and determination that he exemplified throughout his life. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who cared for Michael throughout his years at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. We would especially like to thank these special people who cared for Michael at The James Cancer Center and Hospice of Central Ohio during his final battle, Kyle, Rachel, Jennifer, Cheyenne, Leon, Janessa, Kari, Sabra, Jodi, Stephanie, Angie, Michelle, and Father Mike.
A Celebration of Life to honor the remarkable journey of Michaels life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 4 P.M. followed by a reception lasting until 7 P.M. at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Joan Bisesi Fund for Head and Neck Oncology Research and The Franklin Park Conservatory, a place that Michael loved to visit.
