Molly attended the Newark public schools, was a cheerleader at Wilson Junior High School, and graduated from Newark High School, the Class of 1956. She married Guy J. Marcelain at St. Francis de Sales Church on February 2, 1957, and together they raised four children; Thomas (Leslie) Marcelain, Elizabeth (Steve, dec.) Stiens, Christin LeMaster, and Andrew (Jennifer) Marcelain.
After her children started school Molly entered the workforce. Her love of children and organizational skills led her to a position of school secretary at Newark Catholic High School until her children left home, when she and Guy moved to Columbus where he had been long employed, and she found work in the office at Bishop Watterson High School from where she retired.
Molly was a convert to Catholicism, but her work at Newark Catholic with the nuns in the convent there led her to a real appreciation of her faith and to many years of service at St. Agatha’s, where she was a parishioner for over 40 years.
Molly enjoyed her work in the schools, but her greatest love was raising her children and assisting in the raising of her grandchildren.
Molly loved flowers, gardening, decorating with flowers, working in her garden, and watching the birds and squirrels attracted to her feeders and flowers. She was an avid baker, using recipes she found on her own, and many of her mother’s. Molly was a 40-year member of the Hetuck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She greatly enjoyed her water aerobics and volleyball friends and her bridge group.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Christine Lindskog (Jim, dec.), Gail Blake (John, dec.), and Judy Magers (Dan); her four children; her grandchildren, Hannah (Jesse) McIntosh, Duffy Stiens, Luke Stiens, and Olivia Stiens; Johnathon (Emily) LeMaster, Erica (Kevin) Naylor; Sydney (Adam) Gast, Daniel (Katie) Marcelain, Grant Marcelain; Reece Marcelain and Tate Marcelain; and great grandchildren, Ivyann LeMaster, Sophie Mae Gast, Palmer Gast, Patrick Naylor, Evan Naylor, Bruce Marcelain, Elijah McIntosh, and one more on the way.
Molly was predeceased by her parents, David and Anne Evans; her father and mother-in-law, Ludger and Jean Marcelain; her husband, Guy (2014); and her brother, whom she dearly loved, David R. Evans, Jr., and his wife, Sandy.
A funeral mass will be held for Molly at St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio, on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 5-7 PM. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, St. Louisville, Ohio.
