Myrtle Vera Mitchell went peacefully to be with our Lord, surrounded by her loved ones, on December 27, 2017. She is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Arthur. Myrtle Vera Mitchell (Stagg) was born on February 28, 1932 in Portsmouth, England and emigrated to the United States in 1990 with her husband Arthur. They went to Fallbrook, California where her daughter and son-in-law lived. In March of 1993 they moved to Gahanna, OH. Myrtle was an active member of Church of the Resurrection, singing in the 9 am choir, a lector, Eucharistic minister, member of the Young at Heart and ready to volunteer at any time. She loved to go to the theater, especially musicals. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served in various capacities over the years. Before she and Arthur emigrated to the united states, they travelled extensively with the British Diplomatic Service. They were stationed in Sri Lanka, Sofia Bulgaria, Brussels Belgium, Saigon Vietnam, Georgetown Guyana, Washington DC, Bucharest Romania, Vienna Austria, Moscow Russia and New York. She loved to share her travel stories and memories. She enjoyed participating in Silver Sneakers at the local YMCA even with her oxygen tank! Her life changed a lot when Arthur died but she began some travelling with tour groups and visited Italy, Ireland, Israel and Alaska. The greatest joy she had in recent years was spending time with her great grandchildren, Joey (11), Patrick (6), Ellen (17 mos) and Luke (15 mos). They all loved to visit her in her new apartment built on to her daughter's house. Those last months were so happy for her.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Yvette and Bill Pederson, grand children and spouses Dawn and Jaime (Davis) Pederson, Sara (Pederson) and Chris Conroy, Ryan and Ashley (Lang) Pederson and her great grandchildren Joey, Patrick and Ellen Conroy and Luke Pederson.
Visitation will take place at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 East Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany, OH 43054 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at Church of the Resurrection on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church of the Resurrection - Fr. Jim's Mary Grotto, or Church of the Resurrection Youth Ministry, or Nationwide Children's Hospital.
