Nancy Lynn White

Nancy Lynn (Martin) White, 65, of Columbus, passed away surrounded by her family Sunday morning, July 12, 2015 at the James Cancer Hospital. She was born July 8, 1950 in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Samuel and Eileen (Helwagen) Martin. She was a graduate of Bishop Ready High School and trained as a nurse, working for Children's Hospital and a pediatric office before becoming a full-time mom of five children. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle parish. A voracious reader, she worked for the Bexley Public Library for the past 14 years and the St. Charles Preparatory School's library before that. Always playful, she could be seen with husband Clay blowing bubbles out the back of the library's 4th of July parade float. Nancy was an avid bowler who switched bowling to her left hand when her doctor said she'd never bowl again with her right. Nancy's Christmas and birthday card list was the stuff of legend. Her highly organized calendar, often scenes of Hawaii from her sister, was meticulously copied and added to, each January; few important dates were ever missed, including her own 65th birthday. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 43 years, Clay, who was by her side every day of her fight the last 7 months, sons, Joel, Patrick and Daniel (Douglas); daughters, Alaina and Kristin (Andrew); granddaughter Nebraska-Lynn; grandson, Jackson; brother Terrance (Sandy) Martin; sisters Sandy (Michael) Davis, Cindy Martin, Ginny (Randy) Johnson, Dorothy (Patrick) Ellis; and 9 nieces and nephews with 7 great-niece and great-nephews as well. The family will receive family and friends Thursday July 16, 2015 from 5pm-730pm, prayer service to follow, at the Schoedinger Funeral Home, 5360 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH, 43232. A funeral service will be held Friday at 12 p.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 1573 Elaine Rd, Columbus, OH 43227, Rev. Fr. William Arnold officiating. Private burial.
