

Norma Jean Tharp died on September 26, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was 80. Norma was born on February 5, 1936 in Columbus, OH to her parents Orville and Olive Chase. She graduated from North High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart Charles Tharp in 1955. They lived in Columbus, enjoying raising their four children. Norma worked for Ohio Bell after graduating. When she and Chuck started having children, they decided that she would stay home and enjoy watching them grow. When she was 36, she decided to go back to work and was employed by MRDD. She was a secretary for Marburn School where she met a lifetime of loving and caring friends. After she retired, she enjoyed her time with her family, dog Ben, watching movies, and telling lots of memorable stories of the family she loved dearly. Norma will be greatly missed by her daughters Rebecca (Dr. Peter) Tencza, Barbara (Joseph) Morris, Mary (Chris) Dyser, and son Brian Tharp. Grandchildren Dr. Amanda (Cole) Whitaker, Gwendolyn (Jason) McNutt, CJ Morris, Zach and Sydney Dyser, Justin (Amanda) Tharp and Trevor (Valerie) Tharp. She was also much loved by her seven great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Charles, parents Orville and Olive, brother Howard Chase, and sister Marian Chase. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Friday, September 30, 2016 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. Norma's funeral will be held there on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10am with Andrew Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Research by going to www.alz.org.
