Oris Gerald "Jerry" Frederick was born December 1, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by parents, John David Frederick and Doris Virginia (Binkley) Frederick. He went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Jerry leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 51 years, Sheryl (Cordell) Frederick; daughters, Regina Frederick (Larry) James, Rebecca Frederick and son, Joseph Frederick; grandchildren, Leanna, Shawnae, Kareyna, Tristan, Marlie, and Guestin; and great-granddaughter, Ca'Riya; sisters, Jackie (Buddy) Hacker and Martha Frederick; brothers Mick (Chris) and Jim Frederick, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. And longtime friend, Jerry Cooper.
Jerry graduated from Goshen High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Navy serving 4 years where he did two tours in Vietnam followed by serving in the Navy Reserve for 11 years. He graduated from DeVry University and retired from Ohio Semitronics.
Jerry loved to play baseball, football, cards, chess and was in a bowling league for many years. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing and he had lots of fun teaching his children and grandchildren. He coached and/or attended all the softball, football, baseball and soccer games the children and grandchildren were in. He taught them how to catch, pitch and throw. He cheered them on every step of the way (offering sideline advice) even when he wasn't coaching. He showed them how to garden, work on cars (even the girls), to live right, make good choices and have faith in God.
Jerry was a caring and loving man with a big heart and such a good sense of humor. He leaves a legacy of love for his family. He fought long and hard these past two years to stay with us. Jerry was a true fighter. He will be missed and loved always and will forever be in our hearts.
