

Paul Walker "Bucky" Long, Jr., age 84 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. Paul was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, son of the late Paul and Eloise Long. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice L. Mays Long and son, Paul W. Long, III. Paul graduated from Marshall University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War period. Paul held various positions throughout his life, but he retired as a civilian investigator with the Columbus Police Department. He was a unique man who had a great personality and was always ready to tell someone a joke. He enjoyed reading and swimming, but it was his family, mostly his grandson and great granddaughter that truly brought joy to Paul's life. Paul always kept to his routine, but particularly looked forward to his Sunday lunches with great granddaughter, Alex. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Lindsey (Eva) McCracken; grandson, Nicholas McCracken; great granddaughter Alexandra McCracken and her mother, Kristin Lusky; daughter-in-law, Cindy Long; siblings, Eloise Marshall, Suzanne Rodgers, Phoebe Rodgers, Robert D.C. Long, and Margo Brauchli; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., where family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday. Rev. Bonnie Gerber officiating.
