

Columbus, OH Family and friends mourn the loss of Robin Priday, 93, who passed away on January 12, 2017. Robin Priday was born August 23, 1923 in Colville, Washington to Mary Robinson and Paul Hamilton Priday. He married May Lentz in 1944 and together they had two children, Jan and Robin. He was preceded in death by his wife, May, son, Robin, two brothers, Jim and Rick, and step-daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Mike Tackett. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 31 years, Carol Wright Irwin, daughter, Jan (Garry) Seitz, as well as children Craig (Connie) Irwin, Nancy Sheares, and Joan (Fred) Ritchey, and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Helen Priday and Cathy Priday, nieces and nephews. Robin was a 1941 graduate of West Jefferson High School, where he played football. He went on to play quarterback at The Ohio State University and was member of the first Ohio State National Championship team in 1942. In early 1943, he joined the US Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. and became a pilot, as part of the 556th Bomb Squadron. Robin was starting quarterback on the 1945 OSU football team. Due to an injury, he was unable to play in 1946 but helped coach the OSU Freshman squad. After receiving his BS degree in 1947, Robin accepted his first coaching position in Mt. Sterling, OH, then moved on to coach football in Wilmington, and Troy, OH, before going to Grandview Heights HS in 1953 where he would remain until retirement in 1980. He coached football, basketball and track and eventually became the Junior High Principal. He also completed his Master's Degree at The Ohio State University. Robin was active in the West Side Lions Club, Dublin Lions Club, and Big Brothers Association. He was also instrumental in organizing associations and reunions for the OSU 1942 National Championship Team, 556th Bomb Squadron, and the 302nd Air Force Reserve Unit. He was named to the West Jefferson and Grandview Heights Sports Hall of Fame. His legacy lives on in the lives of his family, the players he coached, students he taught, and people whose lives he touched throughout his years of service to his country, community, and family.
