

Perry Russell Scarberry, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1925 in Ripley, WV to the late Perry M. and Mary Ann (Bowers) Scarberry. Perry was a dedicated family man both in his youth by working hard to help care for his family when his father died and then in his adulthood by taking care of his wife and children. He worked for the C & O Railroad for 10 years before moving to Columbus and working for Abex Company where he retired after 35 years as an Inspector and Set-up Man. In his retirement he enjoyed working with his son-in-law mowing acres of grass. Perry never met a stranger especially on his long walks with his great granddaughter, Emily. They enjoyed collecting coins and recycling cans. He loved to talk and was a very caring man. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers; daughters, Linda Derwis and Brenda Scarberry; and son, Thomas Scarberry. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years who he met at church, Irene Scarberry; daughter, Shirley (Ronald) Thompson; grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Wilkinson, Robert Munyon; Russell (Loretta) Derwis, Rebecca Derwis, Jennifer Ward and Dewey Scarberry; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Bill Scarberry and sister, Mildred Scarberry; many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010. Rev.
