Phil Julius Weimar

Phil J. Weimar Jr., 82 of Columbus, died Sunday, November 11, 2012. He was born March 31, 1930 in Buffalo, NY to the late Phil and Lillian (Wenner) Weimar Sr. He grew up in Wyckoff, NJ, graduated from Ramsey High School, NJ and Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, NC. He participated in football in both high school and college. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired in 1990 from General Motors as a Supervisor with the AC Delco Division. He was a member of Sharon Woods Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was an avid OSU Buckeye and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and being with his family. Phil was a devoted and loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by a brother Eric and is survived by Frances, his wife of 58 years, children Gary (Debby), Janice (Cliff) Skinner, Glenn (Tina), Steve (Cindy), siblings Arlene (Carl) Hoffman, Doris Ryan, Ruth (Bill) Haigh, Phyllis Weimar, Donna (Drew) Halvorsen, Richard Weimar, David (Diane) Weimar, Barbara (Gerard) Fennell, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at Sharon Woods Baptist Church, 5959 Sharon Woods Blvd., with Pastor Jim Dreisbach officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
