Philip Michael Newsom

Philip Michael Newsom departed this life on September 16,2020. He was born in Logan, W.Va July 3, 1954, to Eva Newsom and Jim Adkins. He attended Logan High School and graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Speech and Communications. Philip spent most of his adulthood in the transportation industry, and when he wasn't working you could find him at a Red's game or on his chair watching them play ball. Philip loved life. He loved to joke, and he loved his family. Philip loved his three dogs, Ellie, Maggie, and especially his beloved Marty and his cat Rusty.

To know Philip was to love him. He would say his greatest gifts were his beautiful wife of thirty-four years Linda and his amazing kids Bret Michael and Stacie Lynn. There was never a game they were in that he wasn't at or a moment he was needed that he wasn't there. To say we will miss him is an understatement. We are grateful for him and the love and life he gave to us all. He was the best dad and husband.

He is survived by his wife Linda Newsom; his daughter Stacie Lynn Newsom; his son Bret Michael Newsom; his mom and dad Eva Newsom and Jim Adkins; his sister Jennifer Frasure (Charlie); nieces Emma and Hannah; and nephew Benjamin Tyler. He also had two step-children whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with and making many memories, Bob Shannon (Julie); daughters Cassidy, Bailey, and Kelly Cable (Eric); and son Austin; as well as his aunt Sandra Lester Holman (John), Valerie Spedale (Marty) and Brittany; Rick newsom (Betty), Erica and Christopher and many other cousins.

Philip's graveside service will take place on Monday, September 21, 2020, at 12:30pm at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, 8029 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio, 43232. Attendees will be asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines at the cemetery.
