

Carolyn was born on March 1, 1927, in Trenton, New Jersey. Her parents were James Emory Lippart and Clarence Ruth Lippart. She had one brother James Harry Lippart and one sister, Charlotte Irene Lambert. Much of her childhood was spent in Florida, North Carolina, Maine, Tennessee, and Takoma Park, Maryland. In the early 1940s, she married Harold Andrew Treadwell and had a daughter, Judy Carol Treadwell. In 1950, she married Morris Webster Butler in Marshalltown, IA. She had two children from this marriage. Cynthia Butler Rasche and Scott Webster Butler.
During Carolyn's adult life, she lived in Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Batavia, and Dublin, Ohio. In the late 1970s and early 1980s she and her husband lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tehran, Iran, and Lagos, Nigeria while Morris worked for AVCO International. She taught art at the International School in Riyadh.
Carolyn had a sense of adventure and wonder in her travels overseas. She loved to explore the surrounding areas of the places where she lived. She enjoyed finding and collecting bottles, pieces of pottery, seashells, and she purchased artworks, batik, carpets and sculpture from the local artists. Carolyn was a Bluebird and Campfire Girls leader. Carolyn loved nature and the out-of-doors. She was an avid gardener who was skilled at design and using plants to create a beautiful landscape around her home. She enjoyed making artwork and pottery. Her artwork included painting, watercolor and drawing. She loved reading, which was a source of enjoyment in her later years. She found pleasure in even the smallest things of life such as feeding the birds and squirrels.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Cindy Butler Rasche, and son-in-law, Dale Rasche of Dublin, OH, daughter Judy Horn (Boyd) of Pasadena, MD, and grandson, Eric Rasche, Den Hague, Netherlands. Also beloved nieces and nephews Julia Butcher (Jerry), Robert Butler, Corby Lambert (Deborah) and Susan Glenn (Chris). She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband, son and son-in-law, Boyd.
Carolyn will be lovingly remembered. Her life was a blessing to those who knew her. Her final resting place will be at Union Cemetery in Columbus, OH with her husband and son.
