Rachael H Shumate

Rachael H. Shumate (Whallon), 79, born December 2, 1938 and died Saturday, March 17, 2018. Preceded in death by parents, Jack and Katherine Hooker, husbands Dr. Kenesaw Shumate and Maestro Evan Whallon. Survived by daughters Katherine (Jane Cera) Shumate, Alyssa (John) Van Ausdal, of Columbus and son, J. Harrison Shumate, of Petersburg, VA, sister Marcia (Warner) Lee of Phoenix, grandchildren Jackson and Lola Van Ausdal, and beloved nieces and nephew. Avid reader and free-lance grammarian, Rachael was a Columbus and Arlington area realtor for over 30 years with HER. She loved to travel and appreciated the years her family spent in Kobe, Japan. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM on Monday, April 2, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. James Episcopal Church, 3400 Calumet Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Kenesaw S.
