

COLUMBUS Randall Joseph Heitkamp, 59, died on Monday, August 9, following an unwitnessed water accident in Lake City, Michigan, where he was vacationing with family.
He was born in 1962 in Coldwater to Louis Heitkamp (deceased) and Thelma Kramer Heitkamp.
He is survived by his wife of more than 36 years, Susan (Miller) Heitkamp, and their son, Collin Heitkamp, both of Columbus.
Also surviving are siblings: Christine (Mark) Tobin, Diane (Jerry) Puthoff, Roger (Kelly) Heitkamp, Angela (Bob) Hunt, Ray (Jenny) Heitkamp, Ron Heitkamp, and Karla (Dan) Dysert. As well as: Dan (Alvera) Miller, Michael Henry, Sheila (Steve) Liette, Francesca (James) Niekamp, Toby (Paula) Miller, Wayne (Kim) Miller, Adam (Keetch) Miller and a large extended family.
His mother-in-law, Molinda Lauxmiller preceded him in death.
Randy worked in the commercial printing industry for more than 40 years throughout the US. He was co-owner of the Messenger Press in Carthagena for twenty years before retiring. The industry called him back and he worked for several years for American Inks & Technology of Portage, Michigan, covering the state of Ohio.
Randy was a lifelong athlete and a passionate member of the Columbus Curling Club. He was an active volunteer at the Club and with various organizations in Mercer & Auglaize Counties.
He was also a gifted woodworker and renovated several century homes. He loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his son. He was a generous and beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
