

Rebecca “Becky” Evelyn (Flanders) Erickson Fraundorfer, 94, of Columbus, died Thursday, March 8, 2012. She was born March 26, 1917 in Summerville, Massachusetts, to the late Percy and Mildred (Chase) Flanders. She was valedictorian and president of the class of 1934 at West Haven High School and president of the class of 1938 at New Haven State Teacher’s College (Southern Connecticut State University) both in New Haven, Connecticut, where she was a Distinguished Alumni Honoree. She was a realtor with Ward and Krumm Realtors and a member of the Five Million Dollar Club and the GIR. She was a member at First Community Church for eighteen years and then at Ascension Lutheran Church for forty years. She personally made and donated over five hundred quilts to Lutheran Charities, collected seashells, enjoyed gardening and read books extensivley. She joined the Girl Scouts in 1927 in Hollywood, Florida and was active for eighty-five years. She was a recipient of the Golden Eaglet Award and she spoke at the National Girl Scout Convention when she was eighteen years old with Eleanor Roosevelt, who was the First Lady at the time. She was a member of the first Girl Scout Sea Scout Troop and served as a camp counselor thru college, then she was a Professional Scout in New Haven, Connecticut, Syracuse, New York and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She served as President of the Seal of Ohio Girl Scout Council in Columbus from 1960-1968 and served the Girl Scouts in many capacities the rest of her life. Becky’s Pond at Camp Ken-Jockety in Columbus is named for her. She was also the recipient of the Girl Scout Thanks Badge. Having five boys, Becky served Boy Scouts of America for thirty five years, fifteen as a Den Mother and twenty years on the Central Ohio Council, Central Committee. In 1972 she received the council’s highest honor, the Silver Fawn Award. She is preceded in death by her first and third husbands, Edwin Milton Erickson and Frank Fraundorfer, son Bruce, siblings Alice and Abbie Armstrong and Tom and Herb Flanders. She is survived by daughter-in-law Ann Erickson, Chapel Hill, NC and sons, Stephen (Jan) Erickson, Sparks, NV, David (Sherry) Erickson, Worthington, OH, Glenn (Sandra) Erickson, Natal, Brazil and Mark (Eloise) Erickson, Upper Arlington, OH; grandchildren, Evan (Brittain) Erickson, Ryan (Summer) Erickson, Kristy (Michael) Vannelli, Keith (Victoria) Erickson, Diane (Chris)Bishop, John Erickson, Rebecca Erickson, Evelyn Erickson, Marilia Erickson, Aimee (Aaron) Dursch, Stephen Erickson and Matthew Erickson; four great grandchildren; former second husband Vern Johanson; brother John Armstrong, San Antonio, TX. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 2PM - 4 PM with a memorial service presided by Pastor Tim Muller of Ascension Lutheran church immediately following at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd.
