Richard Leroy Blackwell, age 78, of Columbus, Ohio was surrounded by love when he went to be with the lord on August 14, 2023. Born to the late Adaline Blackwell in Columbus, Ohio on May 16, 1945. Richard is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Karen Blackwell, and grandson Austin Hunnicutt. Richard is survived by children Michael Blackwell, Pamela (Michael) Tackett, and Mark Blackwell; grandchildren Kayleigh Blackwell, Nathan Blackwell, Adaline (David) McAninch, Garrett Hunnicutt, and Faith Blackwell; a great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard also had a very special place in his heart for his dog Lilly, granddog Daisy, and great-granddog Gracie. Richard was a dedicated and loving husband, father, papaw, and friend. He retired from the State of Ohio Pickaway County Correctional Facility. He loved fishing, camping, going to horse races, and had a huge sweet tooth for all desserts. He will be dearly missed. Family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204.
