Richard Edward Host

Richard was born on September 18, 1933 in Galion, OH to the late Theodore and Beatrice (Seyfors) Host. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Host. Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Moore) Host; daughters, Cynthia Host and Joni (Barry) Bartelt; brother, Clarence (Gloria) Host; sister, Carol Ciola; niece, Susan (Seth) Hazlett; nephews, James (Sarah) Moore, Richard Moore, Gary (Grace) Crawford and Blaine (Angela) Crawford.

Richard retired after many years of service from Columbia Gas of Ohio and HandR Block of Galion. He was a member of the Galion and Grandview Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses where he served as an elder and was active in his volunteer ministry. Richard was an avid sports fan who faithfully supported the Cleveland Indians and the Browns. He especially enjoyed fishing with his buddies for perch on Lake Erie and golfing. He even accomplished the rare feat of having a hole-in-one. Richard was always ready with a joke for every occasion. He showed his serious side by his many visits to others who needed comfort and encouragement.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Grandview Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2600 W. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43235 where the family will receive friends starting at 12:30 pm and up to the time of the service. Spencer Cercone, lifelong friend and minister, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses at www.jw.org.
