

Richard L. "Dick" Hutchinson, age 85, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 3, 1930 in Grove City, Ohio to the late Roy and Maude (Justice) Hutchinson and is also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Hutchinson. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sue (Gingher) Hutchinson; daughters, Stephanie Carper and Amy (Charles) Daruda; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jill (Nathan), Courtney, Jacob (Yazmin), and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Addison, Tenley, and Brooke; and siblings, Barbara Greiner, Darrell (Fran) Hutchinson, and Sheila Milne. Dick graduated from Bexley High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict as a jet engine mechanic. During his service, Dick was stationed at Shepherd and Lackland Air Force Bases in Texas, Lake Charles Air Force Base in Louisiana, Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and was later stationed in England. After returning home, he attended OSU and then went to work for State Auto Insurance Company and went on to serve on the Board of Directors and retired as Vice President with 33 years of service. Dick was one to reach out to help those in need. He enjoyed sports such as tennis, football, basketball, and boating. He loved his family and his beloved dogs. He would have been so proud of his loving grandson, Daniel, as he was so helpful in his care during his final days. His sense of humor and loving heart will be greatly missed. Friends may call Friday, October 28th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the SAINT MARKS EPISCOPAL CHURCH at 2151 Dorset Road in Upper Arlington with a Memorial Service to immediately follow.
