Richard Kiebler

Richard Frank Kiebler, 82, passed away on March 2, 2017 at the Kobacker Hospice House in Columbus. Richard was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on September 15, 1934. He was a longtime resident of Columbus, Ohio and enjoyed living at his homes in Ohio and Florida. After retiring from a successful career in pharmacy for 37 years, Richard was an active member of the Advent Lutheran Church of Columbus, Ohio and Grace Lutheran Church of Melbourne Beach, Florida. Besides being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he had many interests that always brought him in the company of people with whom he shared his love of Christ and fellowship. Since the church was very important in his life, he served on numerous committees and accepted leadership roles. Richard's s warm smile served as a witness when he spoke about how much he loved participating in the live nativity and choir. Richard was known to family members and friends as the gentle giant who was also a dog whisperer, as there was not a dog around who wasn't known to seek him out and end up on his lap. If one knew Richard well, then they were privileged to be on the tale end of his "shenanigans", which worked out quite nicely when he would play Santa Claus annually for special needs children. One of the most endearing qualities Richard had was "showing up". Whether he was "wooing" the love of his life on a motorcycle ride for their first date or being the captaining on a boat on many a family vacation on Lake Cumberland or the Ohio River or attending his grandchildren's sporting events, performances and graduations, Richard always recognized the importance of being there for family he loved. Richard never knew a stranger. The world is changed without him but not because he passed, but because he lived. Services will be held on SUNDAY, March 26th, 2017 at Advent Lutheran Church, located at 3660 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220. Visiting hours will be between 2-4 P.M., followed by a celebration of life service with Communion at 4 P.M.
