

Richard (Rick) Sayre was born in East Liverpool, OH to Marguerite and Charles H Sayre. He graduated from East Liverpool High School and attended Youngstown State University. Rick was multi-talented. His interest in food led him to work as maitre d'. His compassion for people was demonstrated as an orderly at St. Elizabeth's in Youngstown. Rick worked for many years for the State of Ohio. He moved to Columbus where he retired as an analyst with the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. Rick was quite involved with First Congregational Church where he devoted much of his retirement energy. As a member of the First Church Choir, he was proud to have traveled to England, where the choir was in residence at Gloucester Cathedral in 2015. He served as the church archivist. He was passionate about the church’s pipe organs, including their refurbishment and preservation. Photography was a beloved hobby. He toured Europe many times, taking photography classes in Prague and documenting his adventures. More recently he toured Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Rick will be missed by his family. We enjoyed many happy gatherings over the years, particularly Thanksgiving. He had a quick wit and was a joy to be around. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Sayre Daily in 2009; father, Charles H Sayre in 1989; brother, Charles R. Sayre in 2014 and sister-in-law, Frances Sayre in 2002. Richard is survived by his nieces and their families, Ann Pean and children Sabrina and Alex Pean, Lisa Birchall and children Samantha (Austin) Bruns and Kevin Birchall, and Julie (Wayne) Senita and their children Nick and Sidney Senita.
