

Born in Tiffin, Ohio on March 17th, 1934. Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 30, 2017. He graduated from Tiffin Colombian High School in 1952. Active in the Ohio National Guard from1950-1953. B.S. in Business Administration from Miami University of Ohio in 1957. Proud member of Beta Theta Pi (Alpha Chapter) Fraternity. Miami Homecoming King 1956 with Queen Ann Frederich. He was a Senior Hall Counselor. President of the A Capella Choir. House Manager of Beta Theta Pi. Dick worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, later named Ameritech, then ATandT from 1957-1992. His career took him all over Ohio and Washington, DC as he had roles ranging from Commercial Manager to Area Manager to a Legislative Agent. He was well known for his ability to bridge relations between Management and Union. Member of St. Michaels in Ottawa Hills, OH; St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Upper Arlington, OH; St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Fort Myers, FL; and the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, Punta Gorda, FL. President of Better Business Bureau of NW Ohio. Member of Toledo Rotary. Member of Original Work Release Program (Toledo, OH) Member of Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of NW Ohio. He lived in Toledo from 1969-1985, relocating to Upper Arlington in 1985 -2013, spending winters in N. Ft. Myers, FL. Dick permanently relocated to Port Charlotte, FL in 2013 where he resided until his death. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Vogt, daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Maumee Ohio and Rachel (Kim) Niswander of Johnstown Ohio, grandchildren Brendan and Aidan Smith, and sister, Betsy Rueb of Upper Arlington. Preceded in death by his brother, the Reverend Charles M. Vogt (Jean) of Edina Minnesota, parents Charles Melvin and Mabel Elizabeth Vogt. Dick loved to golf, belonged to a bible study group for over 20 years, and was well known for singing Danny Boy in his Irish Tenor voice every St. Patrick 's Day (his birthday). His daughters will host calling hours on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 from 1- 2 p.m. at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, with a service at 2 p.m.
