Dick was born Feb. 10th, 1938 to Henry and Martha Wagner of Upper Arlington, Ohio. He graduated Upper Arlington high school, class of 1956, and was a member of the wrestling team, and a student manager of the football team. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated from Franklin University. He was married to the love of his life, Margaret (Meg), for over 63 years. After working at the Ohio Dept. of Transportation, Richard was employed by Borden Chemical Division as their Hazardous Material Transportation Manager for over 30 years. Anyone who knew Dick, knows that trains were a huge part of his life. He helped establish and restore the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, took voluminous rail photography, and built an impressive basement model railroad with friends. The train layout was always a big hit with neighborhood families during the holiday season. Meg and Dick took many rewarding vacations around the world, many focused toward the adventurous rail fan. Richard was a lifelong member of First Community Church and served as a Deacon & Usher for many years.
Richard was most proud of his children, grandchildren, extended family and beloved pets. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. His service of Memory will be held Monday April 28th at 11am, First Community Church (South Campus) In the Burkhart Chapel. Reception to follow at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be given to the Heart to Heart Food Pantry at First Community Church or Camp Akita at First Community Church (Where Dick and Meg met on New Years Eve, 1960).
Please share your condolences, memories, and kindness with Dick's family.
