

Robert R. Boyer died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 88 at St. Ann's Mt. Carmel Hospice in Westerville, Ohio due to complications resulting from a fall on Mother's Day 2015. Bob, as he was known to friends and family, was born January 11, 1928 in Alliance, Ohio to Carl Boyer and Iva Leone (Brown) Boyer. Bob spent most of his childhood in West Lafayette, Ohio. After graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1946, Bob attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. After graduation, Bob served two years in the Marine Corp before pursuing a graduate degree at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He took a job with North American Rockwell in Columbus and met and married Sue Wamsley. Bob and Sue raised two boys, Steven and Christopher, and lived in Minerva Park for over 25 years. Bob left North American Rockwell in 1970 and took a position with The Ohio State University working as a data administrator. Sue passed away in 1981 and Bob later met his friend and loving companion, Marjorie Belair, with whom he spent the remaining years of his life. Bob retired in 1986 and he and Margie enjoyed their time together taking many trips and cruises as well as enjoying numerous family activities. Bob loved the simple pleasures in life such as spending time with Margie, playing golf with friends, cooking out on the grill, and going to concerts and other social events. Bob is survived by his companion and friend, Marjorie; son, Steven Boyer and wife Megan of Kearney, Nebraska; granddaughter, Whitney Boyer Wallach (Bryan) of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kristine Boyer Hemmelgarn (Tony) of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons, Zachary Boyer (Elyse) of Haviland, Ohio and Adam Boyer of Oxford, Ohio. Bob also had 11 honorary grandchildren who loved him very much, Ben and Cami, Emma, Michael, Genevieve, Bobby, Anna, Greta, Rosie, Leanne (Matt), and Mandi (Nick). Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Boyer and Iva Leone Boyer; wife, Sue Eileen Boyer; son, Christopher A. Boyer; and brother, William G. Boyer. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Stonybrook United Methodist Church, 485 Cherry Bottom Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 with Robert L. Thomas, Pastor and Nicole R. Baker, Pastor officiating. Never short of good humor and liked by all who met and worked with him, Bob will be missed by family, friends, and those who loved life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Stonybrook Church in memoriam.
