Courtney, Robert Willis “Bob”, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Paul L. Courtney and Emily Bartenfeld Courtney. He graduated from West High School in 1956 and was honorably discharged from the Air National Guard of Ohio in 1961. He worked for Coca Cola, ran a Beer Distributorship, and bought a Mail Boxes Etc. (The UPS Store) Franchise that the family owned for 31 years. Bob was a well-known character in many ways! For years he dressed up as Santa Claus delivering gifts to the children of his buyers from his Coke accounts or to the children of family and friends. His pizza was known all over the city of Columbus and every Friday night was “pizza night” at the Courtney house. Family and friends, kids of friends, friends of friends or even The Ohio State Football Team might show up! Young or old, they loved our Dad and his pizza. Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life of 57 years, Margaret Ann “Sissy”, sons Craig and Christopher, granddaughter Caitlin Dolan. He is survived by his children, Matt (Kathy) Courtney, Cathleen (Tom) Kerns, Michelle Dolan, Colleen Green; grandchildren Melanie (Marty) Such, Emily Kerns, Cole (Tori) Courtney, Courtneay (Wayne) Carney, Madalyn Courtney, Nicholas (Brenee) Dolan, Cody Green; great grandchildren Daniel and Morgan Such, Trey and Makenna Waite, Arianna Carney, Benjamin Robert Courtney, Liam and Carter Dolan and Chase Carney. Many nieces, nephews, friends and especially “The Boys”! We would like to thank the 3rd Floor Nursing Staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Capital City Hospice for the compassionate care shown to our Dad and family during this difficult time. A very special shout out to “Monk”, granddaughter Madalyn, for her loving care of Grandpa the last few weeks.
