Robert J. Dunnington (1930-2016) passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his residence in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Bob’s wife of nearly sixty-four years, Marjorie Lou Dunnington (nee Cave), followed him in death two days later.
The Dunningtons previously lived in Harbor Hills on Buckeye Lake, in Hebron, Ohio, and Lexington Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida. Prior to that, they resided in Gahanna, Ohio, where they raised their three boys. Bob, a proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War, was a lifelong member of East Gate (Sunrise) Masonic Lodge, Aladdin Shrine Temple (where he was in both The Jesters and Hospitality Units), and the Caledonia (Triangle Chapter 592) Eastern Star. He was a member of Mifflin Presbyterian Church, and later, Central College Presbyterian Church. Robert was a passionate golfer, a self-taught technology buff, and a spirited water sports enthusiast. He travelled the world with his wife, pursuing both of these passions.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Robert Dunnington and Alpha Ann Dunnington. Surviving Mr. Dunnington is his son, Jeffrey Dunnington and his wife June, of Sugar Land, Texas; Bradley Dunnington and his wife Renee, of Blacklick, Ohio; and Steven Dunnington and his wife Beth, of Kamuela, Hawaii. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Patrick, Jordan, Aaron (wife Kelly), Brenton (wife Ann), Marena, and Sean. He leaves his brother, Raymond Dunnington and his wife Clara, and their family. He also leaves nieces and nephews, Amy and Mitch Carley, and Paula and Ron Foth, and their families.
Bob will be remembered for his robust laugh, his kindness, his patriotism, his uncanny mechanical ingenuity, his fierce devotion to his family, and most of all, his everlasting love for his wife, Marjorie.
