Robert J. Lucas

Robert J. Lucas, age 80 of Delaware, passed away March 20, 2011. Robert was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Arthur and Julia Lucas. Also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lucas, siblings, Art, Jerry, Emma, Liz, Rudy, and Peggy. At a young age, Robert proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon returning home, he resumed working for the Kroger Company as a meat cutter, and remained there until his retirement. Robert was a very ornery man who had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, had a magical smile, and was always one to appreciate a good joke. Robert also truly enjoyed fishing and the times he spent on his boat trying to catch the big one. He will be missed by his children, James (Gayle) Hayes, Geary (fiancé Suzan Wilcox) Lucas, Nancy Lucas, and Lorie (Kathie Squires) Lucas; grandchildren, Ben, Bart, Amber, Nicole, Robert, Thann, and Dawn; great grandchildren, Halle, Scotty, Presleigh, Alexander, Gordon, and Olivia; siblings, Helen Williams, Belle Williams, Marty (Al) Weese, and Donnie (Ann) Lucas; sister-in-law, Bea Lucas; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., where family will receive friends from 1:30 -3:30 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until time of service Thursday. Chaplain Robert Burnett officiating.
