Robert Grey Myers, Jr., age 88. Bob rounded the final mark with sails trimmed on Friday, March 10, 2017. The youngest station manager for Columbus Citizen, he held many sales positions and ended his career owning Advanced Door Controls, Inc. Even in retirement, he worked parttime jobs to keep busy and active. He would often buy properties and do the renovations himself. Bob and Carolyn enjoyed time as snowbirds in Sebring, Florida and also enjoyed summers at Indian Lake. Bob started sailing with his dad at a young age and became a passionate and skilled sailor all through his adult life and was a longtime member of Hoover Yacht Club. He raced sailboats in regatta's from Lake Erie to Florida and made many sailing friends along the way. Bob also loved model trains and built a large layout in his basement. As a child, he belonged to the YMCA for many years, where he won diving ribbons and attended Camp Wilson in the summer. In high school, Bob won a history contest by creating a drawing of a motor depicting the workings of Congress. He also enjoyed sock hops and dancing to Big Band music. Bob was very creative and could fix anything- he was never at a loss as to how things worked, always wanting to learn. Bob wanted to be remembered as a kind, hard-working man. He always had a positive attitude and wanted the young people in his life to be positive-minded too. Bob enjoyed watching OSU football and especially OSU basketball. The family would like to give a special thank you to Susan, Lillie and Toni for their extra special care of Bob at First Community Village. Bob was a 1948 graduate of Columbus North High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Myers. Bob is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Rob) Levering; son, Robert L. (Marilyn) Myers; grandchildren, Nina Belli, Angelo (Jen) Belli and Rebekkah Bronwin (Peter) Morral; great-grandchildren, Dylan Belli, Natalie Morral and William Morral; other relatives and many friends.
