Robert Leon Ratliff

Funeral services for Robert Leon Ratliff, age 77, of Newark will be on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 1pm CRISS-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 179 Granville Street, Newark, Ohio 43055; Pastor Gene Waters officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home. Bob was born on November 24, 1933 in Grundy, VA; son of the late Gallie and Ellen (Keen) Ratliff. He was a graduate of Grundy Senior High School, class of 1954. Bob retired from the U.S. Navy spending the majority of his naval career in Washington DC with the Atomic Energy Commission at the Pentagon under command of Admiral Rickover, retiring as a Navy Chief. Survivors include his devoted wife of 44 years, Darlene (Freeman) Ratliff; sister, Lanthia (Charles) Perkins; sisters-in-law, Delores Mowery of Newark and Arbutus Ratliff of N.C; uncles, Claude Ratliff of Grundy, V.A. and Elmer Ratliff of Ft. Knox, K.Y.; aunts, Jessie Gentry of L.A. and Hazel Ratliff of Grand Rapids, M.I.; also nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, M/Sgt.
