Robert Lee Roof

Robert Lee Roof, age 87 of Upper Arlington, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015. Bob was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late William and Clara (Blake) Roof. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret (Zeeck) Roof, grandson, Andrew Holzapfel, and brothers, Harold, Ralph, Bill, and David Roof. Bob graduated from Grandview Heights High School, Class of 1945 and The Ohio State University, Class of 1951. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran where he proudly served his country from 1946-1947. Bob was President and founder of Roof Die Tool and Machine. He was a member of Community Lodge #684 FandAM - Past Master, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Order of Eastern Star Community Chapter 448, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was also a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Bob was a generous man with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed golfing, reading, fishing, and gardening, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his children Judith Roof, Michael (Cindy) Roof, Cheryl (Jere) Ellison and Kathy (Tim) Owens; grandchildren Abe (Paula So) Roof, Ashley (Eric Mayers) Roof, Melanie Roof, Katie Holzapfel and Brian (Anna Pray) Holzapfel; great granddaughters, Lily and Madelyn Pray; cousin, Gwen Paulson; beloved cat of 23 years, Misty; and other nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street, where family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery in South Bloomfield. Arrangements by Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
