

Robert B. Smith, 85, died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Marcia; parents, George Francis and Regina Mary (Barry) Smith; and great-grandson, Cole Mikle Smith. He leaves behind his loving children, Rob (Anne), Doug (Dana), Craig (Lori), Kirk (Wendy); grandchildren, Kelly (Robert), Jason (Nicole), Justin (Raeann), Makenzie (Steve), Natalie, Chelsea (Kevin), Dustin, Nathaniel, Jennifer, Tucker, Walker and Skyler; and 8 great grandchildren. He was born November 20, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio. Bob graduated from St. Nicholas High school in Zanesville. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geography and Math from Ohio University in 1954 where he served as President of Phi Kappa Alpha. Bob married Marcia Mae Becker in Eaton, Ohio on May 22, 1954. Bob was stationed in Rabat, French Morocco from 1954-1955 where he served in the Air Force as First Lieutenant. They returned to Ohio and after a few moves they settled in Forest Park West where they raised the four boys. Bob and Marcia were founding members of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He retired as Network Manager from Ohio Bell after 30 plus years of dedicated service. Bob was Past Exulted Ruler of the Worthington Elk #2700 and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Through his life he and Marcia enjoyed traveling to beautiful destinations especially to North Myrtle Beach with their entire family. He will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones. Family will receive friends Friday, December 18, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229; with a vigil prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, OH 43229 with Father Thomas Petry, celebrant, and son, Deacon Craig Smith assisting. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Anthony Church in his memory.
