

Robert L. Stewart, 80, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio on June 7th with his wife of 59 years, Mary, by his side. Robert (Bob) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up in Erie where he was Mary's paperboy. The two met again years later in Philadelphia and were together from then on. Bob graduated from Germantown Academy and Lafayette College.
Bob raised his family in Chagrin Falls and Westlake, Ohio. He valued his leadership in the Chagrin Valley Jaycees and spending time at the annual Blossom Time Festival. Professionally, he was a proud pioneer in the integrated security systems industry, tirelessly traveling the country forging lasting relationships with friends and colleagues.
At home, he spent many hours in his workshop where he built beautiful furniture and fixed the bikes of every neighborhood kid who came by. He enlivened family gatherings with his joy of storytelling, passion for the piano, and enthusiasm for sports cars.
He spent his retirement years lovingly surrounded by his children and their families. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Michael), son, Robert L. Stewart, Jr., and daughter, Meredith (Ely); grandchildren, Madeline and Louis; brother, Thomas Stewart (Karen), nephew, Bradley, nieces, Jennifer and Emily, their families; and his brother-in-law Chris. He was predeceased by his sister Cynthia.
Per the family's wishes, inurnment will be private.
