Robert J. Stokes

Robert Joseph Stokes, Sr., age 77, of Heath passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Arlington Care Center. Bob was born on March 24, 1933 in Newark, Ohio; he was the son of the late Richard and Margaret Stokes. Bob was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard (Rose) Stokes and Ron Stokes; and sisters, JoAnn (Jay) Wilson and Colleen Stokes. Bob served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during Korea. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 33 ½ years of loyal service. Bob earned several awards and recognition during his career. He was a life-long member of the American Legion and Druids. Bob was also involved in Life Again organization and enjoyed fishing and reading. He loved being with his family and his winters in Florida. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley; devoted children, Robert Stokes, Jr., Tim (Vickie) Stokes and Pam (Shane) Ballard; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn, Jessica Lee, Timothy Joseph, Nicholas Edward, Adam Joseph, Tia Mae Marie, Roberta Kay, Angel Marie, Thomas Francis and James Dean; 9 great grandchildren, and 2 other great grandchildren soon to be born; brothers-in-law, Roger Willett, Edward (Annette) Willett and Jim (Carol) Haddix; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Bob will be on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2pm at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Chapel, 179 Granville Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
