

Robert H. Varner, 89, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011. He was born May 16, 1921 in Newark. Bob was a 1939 graduate of Newark High School and attended Bliss College in Columbus. He served in the U.S. 10th Army in hospital administration. Bob retired from Lane Aviation after 60 years at the age of 80, where he began as an accountant and worked his way up to the Chief Financial Officer. In earlier years, Bob enjoyed time on his farm in Granville, lovingly called “JONDEBETH”, named after his 3 children. He enjoyed target shooting with his son, Jon, dancing, boating at Buckeye Lake, and attending OSU football and basketball games. Since retiring, Bob has enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Pixie. Bob was a member of the Rotary and the Masons. Bob liked to have fun, loved to laugh, and was a hard worker. Preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ethel Varner and first wife and mother of his children, Margaret. Bob will be missed by his loving wife of almost 29 years, Pixie; son, Jon Varner; daughters, Deborah (Gregg) Krentz and Elizabeth (Wayne) Davis; step-sons, Jeffrey (Barbara) and Greg Salyers; grandchildren, Jonathan and Christopher Davis, James (Donna) Marzolf, Sarah (Matt) Christensen, and Rebekah and Rachel Salyers; and 5 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, Rev.
