Bob graduated from Oak Hill High School, Class of 1948 and began working for the Hudson Motor Company in Detroit. In 1951 Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army, and proudly served his country from 1951-1953 in Panama guarding the canals as an MP, Military Police Officer. Following his time in the military, Bob wanted to move to a larger city that was closer to home, and decided to settle in Columbus. Bob worked as a uniform police officer from 1958-1968 and then retired from the detective bureau, burglary squad in 1985. Bob found great pride in working as a police officer and he always said that the best reward of all was when he was able to recover someone's stolen property. He was an active member with the Columbus F.O.P., had previously been a member of the CPD Trap Team, and was also a member of Cypress Wesleyan Church. Bob was witty, caring, had an enormous heart, and a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, and playing card games, especially euchre.
