

Robert G. Watts, age 95, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Robert was a lifelong Columbus resident born on July 27, 1926 to Harley B. Sr. and Gladys M. Watts. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and Surveying. He was a small business owner of Thomas Engineering and Surveying Company where he provided quality services until he retired at the age of 90. He surveyed the lots in his neighborhood where he currently lived, which allow him to pick the prime lot. He proudly served in the US Navy. He had a love of animals and was known as the “Animal Whisperer”, was a lover of nature, proud MG owner, history buff on the Civil War, WWII and airplanes. Robert loved to travel and took many trips with MG Club, cruises with friends and family camping trips when his children were young. Preceded in death by his parents, Harley B. Sr. and Gladys M. Watts; brother, Harley B. Watts Jr.; and nephew, Grayum Watts. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Joyce; daughters, Kathleen and Linda Watts and Susan (Kevin) Davis; step-grandson, Ian Davis; nephews, Larry, Stirling, Warren, and Charles; friends of the COMGO (Central Ohio MG Owners); and a host of personal friends made throughout his life. A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Graveside and inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Cemetery.
