Bob was a polio survivor, having contracted the disease at age 10, and successfully navigated the rest of his life with limited use of only one arm. He graduated from Bexley High School, earned his B.A. from Miami University in 1958 and a J.D. from The Ohio State University School of Law in 1961. He also served as President of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Board during a major renovation of the Main Library downtown in 1990-91. Bob was an active member at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church.
