

Roger L. Stump, age 84, of Dublin, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 peacefully at home. He was born January 18, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio to William and Charlotte (Andrews) Stump. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Mount Sterling High School in 1950 and attended The Ohio State University. At the age of 17 he started helping his father in the family business, Columbus Col-Weld Corporation, during summer school vacations. As his younger brothers came of age they all joined the company and went on to also establish Engine Rebuilders Supply and The Store Room on the Columbus Col-Weld industrial campus. He was still working at his passing and never retired because he truly loved the business and the people he worked with. He was a member of The United Church, Mount Sterling, Ohio since 1956, a member of the Mt. Sterling Lodge #269 F. and A.M., Scottish Rite and Aladdin Temple Shrine, member of Order of Eastern Star Sterling Chapter #74, as well as a member of Knights Of Pythias, 194 Talmadge Lodge, Mount Sterling and the American Legion Post 0888. Roger is survived by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Carole Gerhardt Stump, whom he married March 27, 1955; his beloved dogs Lucy Ann and Callie Lue; daughters Jan Hurst (Jon) of Beverly, MA; Jill Dossenback (Steve) of Crestone, CO; Jeri Schmidt of Bexley, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan, Alex, Christian, Lissy and George; three brothers Jon (Bonnie) who preceded him in death, Maynard (Joyce) and Charles (Bonnie); brother-in-law Dan Gerhardt (Bobbie) and sister-in-law Kay Graham (Bill); many nieces and nephews and friends. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospets.org, an all-volunteer organization helping senior citizens and their pets.
