Roland George Dartau

Roland George Dartau, age 84. Born on November 28, 1931, in Riga, Latvia. He was the son of Olga Mikhailovna Nikolaeva Dartau and Guido Georg Dartau. He died May 30, 2016, in Columbus, OH, at home. Roland lived in Riga, Latvia; Altensteig and Neuenbürg, Germany; Astoria and Corvallis, Oregon; and Columbus, Ohio. Roland was a member of the Columbus Latvian Evangelical Church and of American Mensa. In Corvallis, he studied at Oregon State University, from which he received a master’s degree in inorganic chemistry. In Columbus, he was employed at Chemical Abstracts, The Ohio State University and Battelle Memorial Institute. He is survived by Lena in St. Petersburg, Russia; Alexander Grevtsov, of Donetsk, Ukraine; and many close friends. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH 43221. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In Roland’s memory, donations may be made to the Guido, Olga and Roland Dartau Scholarship Fund, in care of the Columbus Foundation, 1234 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205.
