

Roland Lloyd “Lum” Edwards, age 89, of Grove City, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was born in Thurman, Ohio, on October 17, 1921, to the late Richard and Esther Edwards. Lum graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1960 he started his own business, R.L. Edwards & Associates. He also worked as City Engineer and Administrator, playing a key role in the planning and growth of Grove City. Lum also served our country proudly in the US Army and retired as Lt. Colonel. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed fishing and Cincinnati Reds baseball and OSU football. He also studied genealogy and wrote a book that traced the ancestry of his hometown of Moriah, Ohio, back to its beginnings in Wales. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Edwards; children, Cheryl Kahn (Michael), and Richard (Cynthia) Edwards; sister, Eleanor Winborne; grandchildren, Dennese (Dave) Armbruster, Farrah (Cory) West, Jerid Roland Edwards, Angela Robertson, and Christine Robertson; and great grandchildren, Jacob, Isabelle, Braeden, and Ramsey. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Tolar officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
