Ron was an avid sports fan who grew up playing football, basketball, and baseball. He served as co-captain of the Marengo Wildcats football team and graduated from high school in 1959. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ron later enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden, where he grew many of his favorites, including potatoes and green beans.
He loved cheering on the Cleveland Guardians and was an avid reader with a strong interest in political and religious history. Ron worked at several newspapers as a typesetter, especially cherishing the 15 years he spent at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He later worked for Eddie Bauer from 1986 until his retirement in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlene Belcher.
Ronald is survived by children, Sharon (Lou) Campbell, David Lewis, Jason “Jase” Lewis, Tim Lueckerath and Terry (Paula) Lueckerath; grandchildren, Amber, George, Steven, and Serena; siblings, Barbara (Richard) Moore and Ellis (Cindy) Lewis; brother-in-law, Kenny Belcher; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Please check back for details. Contributions in Ron’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
